The Waukesha County Business Alliance is excited to congratulate the seven recipients of the Mary Baer Schools2SkillsTM scholarship to attend Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC) this semester.

Jack Huebner, Caleb Lathrop and Kyle Banaski are majoring in metal fabrication; Christopher Zoerb and Samuel Miller are majoring in automation systems; Nathan Richter is studying to be an industrial maintenance technician and Joseph Walkowiak is majoring in tool and die making.

The Mary Baer Schools2SkillsTM Scholarship is given through the WCTC Foundation with its primary purpose to promote education related to manufacturing jobs. WCTC students must enroll in one of the following programs: machine tool, metal fabrication/welding, tool & die or industrial maintenance.

In her time as vice president of community engagement for the Alliance, Baer led the Schools2SkillsTM program and was instrumental in the development of many manufacturing and other education initiatives. Nathan Richter and Joseph Walkowiak both went on Schools2SkillsTM tours in high school. Schools2SkillsTM is one of the Alliance’s signature programs, designed to expose students, parents and educators to career pathways available in manufacturing.

“I take pride in what I do and consider myself a problem solver. I have a special knack for just knowing how to fix things,” said Nathan Richter. “When I was evaluating surrounding colleges, there weren’t too many that offered the Industrial Maintenance Technician program in a hands-on setting like WCTC does.”
