Ramping Up Business Education Partnerships

VJS-Careers-Uncovered

Now that students are almost two months into the 2021-2022 school year, the Alliance is excited to provide an update on our business education programming which has ramped up for the school year. Below represents just a portion of the programs we’ve hosted over the last several weeks.

  • Careers Uncovered: VJS Construction Services opened its doors to educators from around Waukesha County to learn more about the career opportunities available to students and discuss ways to better connect classroom contact and skills to the necessary jobs of today. The half day program opened up future partnerships for VJS and the schools which in turn is a win for the construction industry.
  • Superintendent Roundtable: Melissa Gregory, vice president of operations for Sharp Packaging by Pregis, shared more about the company with superintendents from across Waukesha County. Melissa stressed the importance of engaging with students early on in order to retain talent in Wisconsin.
  • Schools2Skills: Students from North High School kicked off the Alliance’s first Schools2Skills program of the school year! Juniors and seniors from North had the opportunity to learn more about careers in manufacturing through tours of Embedtek and Hydro-Thermal. In addition, students learn more about the education to support manufacturing careers by touring Waukesha County Technical College. Next week, students from Arrowhead will be touring Lake County Manufacturing and Versevo.

Thank you to our Talent Development sponsors who support the Alliance’s business education programming throughout the year and make programs like those like those listed above possible.
