The Waukesha County Board of Supervisors was scheduled to vote on a proposed county sales tax this evening. Prior to the meeting, Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow announced that the County was withdrawing the sales tax ordinance from consideration at its County Board Meeting.
Here is the Alliance’s statement on tonight’s announcement:
“The Alliance thanks County Executive Paul Farrow for his decision to withdraw the sales tax ordinance from consideration this evening at the Waukesha County Board meeting. We appreciate that Waukesha County elected leaders listened to the voices of their constituents and businesses and postponed this measure. The Alliance and the business community are ready and willing to work with Waukesha County and state leaders on the best path forward, including a legislative change to adopt less than the required 0.5% sales tax, and other options to address Waukesha County’s concerns in the next legislative session.”
Many of you reached out to your County Board supervisors over the last two weeks. The feedback shared by our members on this important topic was invaluable, and your involvement was key to tonight’s outcome.
The Alliance remains committed to working alongside County and state leaders to address budgetary challenges, while protecting the business environment that has made Waukesha County a wonderful place to raise families and a leader in economic growth.
