The Waukesha County Business Alliance supports Milwaukee’s bid to host the 2020 Democratic National Convention (DNC), which would provide an economic boost and national exposure for the entire region. Waukesha County is immediately to the west of Milwaukee and many of the Alliance’s member companies have operations, employees, customers and vendors located in Milwaukee.

“A win for Milwaukee is a win for Waukesha County and vice versa,” said Suzanne Kelley, president and CEO of the Waukesha County Business Alliance. “We’re all working together to build a strong region in southeast Wisconsin, so it’s natural for us to support Milwaukee hosting an event like this.”

The Milwaukee bid committee estimates the convention would have a $200 million impact and bring 50,000 visitors to the region. In addition, the DNC reportedly needs 15,000 hotel rooms and there are 5,000 hotel rooms in downtown Milwaukee. There will be 3,500 hotel rooms along the I-94 corridor alone in Waukesha County at the time of the convention, which is within 20 minutes of downtown. It is clear opportunity exists for areas to benefit outside of downtown Milwaukee.

The Alliance is a non-partisan organization and does not endorse political candidates.
