The eight winners will receive their awards during YPWeek at the Emerging Leaders of Waukesha County awards luncheon on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Embassy Suites in Brookfield. Eric Neuman is a senior manager at Chortek LLP, a certified public accounting and business advisory firm. Eric’s passion for relationship and community building is the foundation of his career with Chortek LLP. He prepares his clients and colleagues for a successful tomorrow as Chortek’s technical leader for new accounting standard implementations and as a coach in the firm’s internal mentoring and recruiting programs. Throughout the year, he volunteers with organizations that make southeastern Wisconsin a better place to live and work: Wisconsin Special Olympics, Meta House, The Journey House, Junior Achievement – Finance Park, FaB Wisconsin, Waukesha County Business Alliance, East Tosa Business Alliance and the American Lung Association. Eric also presents to local college students about the benefits of an accounting career in hopes of inspiring the next generation of emerging leaders.

Hometown: Pardeeville, WI
Favorite part of your job: I enjoy working closely with entrepreneurs and business owners to help them meet their compliance requirements. It’s also rewarding to serve as a co-developer for these businesses in finding solutions to promote their growth and profitability.
If you could tell someone why it’s important to be involved in the community in one sentence, what would you say? Becoming involved in the community is vital, because the work fosters unity, creates opportunities and improves the overall environment for people who live and work there.
Favorite thing about living/working in Waukesha County/southeast Wisconsin: I have access to all the amenities available in a large city without the high cost of living.
Favorite movie or book: Man on Fire
Favorite food: Thai Food
Something unique about you: I recently traced my ancestry back to the Revolutionary War.
One thing you couldn’t live without: Friends & family
What was your first job? I worked at a local café/gas station, which my best friend’s dad owned. During my time there, I learned some basic business, but the most important takeaway was how to deliver quality customer service.
If you could do another job for just one day: Professional Athlete or Pilot
Three best words to describe you: Dedicated, Leader, Motivated
In your opinion, what makes a great leader? A great leader knows how to motivate people and can recognize strengths in others, and puts them in a position where they can leverage these strengths.
What drives you to succeed? I want to be able to provide for my family, and earn respect and recognition from my peers.
What is the most pressing issue facing our area and why? We are experiencing a shortage in labor at all skill levels. One of the main contributors to this issue is the changing demographics. We are also constantly competing with larger cities nearby to attract and retain top talent.
What is your favorite saying or word? Work smarter, not harder.
