Ramping up business education partnerships

Now that area students are one month in to the 2019-20 school year, the Alliance is officially kicking off our school year business and education programs. Below represents a portion of the Alliance’s work over the 2019-20 school year to develop our future workforce by connecting businesses and educational institutions:

• The M.A.D.E. Career Expo on October 17 will host hundreds of middle and high school students to learn about manufacturing and engineering careers.
  • More than 2,600 students have attended since in four years.
• In February of 2020, Kids Building Wisconsin – Waukesha Expo will host middle school students to learn about construction and skilled trade careers.
  • More than 800 fifth through eighth graders attended the 2019 expo.
• In March of 2020, middle and high school students will attend the Discover Health Care Expo.
  • More than 2,000 students have attended in four years.
• We will again partner with Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce to bring Mini Business World to Waukesha County.
  • In three years, more than 300 high school students have participated.
• There are already 26 Schools2Skills^TM Manufacturing tours scheduled for the 2019-20 school year.
  • To date, more than 4,000 students have participated since the start of the program 10 years ago.
• Middle and high school students will participate in eight Schools2Skills^TM Health Care tours.
• Four Careers Uncovered programs will bring educators inside the door of area businesses.
• Superintendent/President Roundtables will give education leaders four different opportunities to sit down with business leaders.
• Four Connecting Counselors programs will connect K-12 counselors with innovative programs being offered by area post-secondary colleges and universities.
