Director of Talent

About Our Organization:

The Waukesha County Business Alliance, Inc., a private, member-driven organization, has been the voice of business since its founding in 1918 as the Waukesha Association of Commerce.  Established to serve the Waukesha business community, the Alliance has evolved into a countywide chamber of commerce representing approximately 1,200 member businesses and community organizations.  Its mission is to drive economic growth in Waukesha County and the region by fostering a vibrant business community through four key pillars:  Advocate, Develop, Engage and Grow.

 

Job Summary:

The Director of Talent is responsible for leading programs, projects and special initiatives focused on driving workforce solutions and strengthening the talent pipeline for driver industries in Waukesha County. This role supports the Waukesha County Business Alliance and its partner organization, the Waukesha County Center for Growth (WCCG).

This role requires developing an understanding of employers’ current and future talent needs, as well as overall workforce trends, and building relationships with workforce partners and resources.  This individual will be responsible for providing definition to workforce challenges, structuring frameworks and solutions to address the challenges, tackling obstacles and blockers, and leading execution of programs.

This role will oversee, evaluate and evolve the Alliance’s talent strategy. This role will also oversee the Alliance’s Construction Alliance, Nonprofit Executive Council and provide support to the Manufacturing Alliance of Southeastern Wisconsin. The position reports to the Alliance President/CEO.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Alliance’s Talent Solutions Council to execute talent development programs and ensure it serves as a springboard to solutions. Develop relevant agendas, secure expert speakers and drive action.
  • Keep a pulse on the talent needs of our member companies through employer collaboratives, focus groups and member engagement activities.
  • Support the efforts of the Waukesha County Center for Growth (WCCG) and Executive Director including participating in business retention visits at the request of the Executive Director and connect WCCG clients to area workforce development resources and solutions.
  • Assist with talent and workforce specific information for business attraction inquiries and client visits.  Prepare talent specific reports(slides) for the WCCG Board, quarterly municipal reporting, and various council presentations.  Register and track talent related activities in Chamber Master.
  • Serve as the liaison with local, regional and state workforce partners.
  • Supervise and support the Business & Education Coordinator position in their efforts to deliver programming to expose students to Alliance member companies and career pathways in Waukesha County and Southeast Wisconsin, including tours, career expos and more.
  • Support the Business & Education Coordinator with maintaining strong connections with K-12 and post-secondary educational institutions.
  • Lead the Construction Alliance, including the Construction Executive Council. Develop relevant agendas, secure expert speakers and drive action.
  • Lead the Nonprofit Executive Council, including quarterly meetings and guest speakers.
  • Coordinate with regional and state partners on talent attraction efforts for the county, region and the state.
  • Attend Alliance Board of Directors meetings.
  • Provide workforce updates, as needed, to the Alliance and WCCG boards.
  • Support the efforts of the Alliance Vice President of Public Policy as it relates to policy issues and positions on workforce topics.
  • Become proficient with all modules of the Alliance database.
  • Contribute to the Alliance’s member retention process.
  • Assist entire Alliance team, as needed, on additional projects, training sessions, meetings, etc.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and database software.
  • Must be organized, flexible, able to handle multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and provide own transportation.

 

The Director of Talent is a full-time, salaried position and reports to the Alliance’s President/CEO.  Availability required for occasional early morning and/or evening Alliance events or programs.
