Suzanne Kelley recently participated in the Governor’s Council on Workforce Investment quarterly meeting as part of a refocus of the council’s activities. The council is charged with aiding Wisconsin employers in finding the workers they need and providing resources to enable workers to access training for in-demand careers with the ultimate goal of moving Wisconsin’s economy forward. The members of the Council on Workforce Investment work closely with the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) to craft a comprehensive workforce development strategy that:
- Anticipates employer labor needs while building and strengthening Wisconsin’s workforce;
- Supports the development of a highly-skilled labor force; and
- Empowers individuals to pursue and retain good paying careers.
The council has created four standing committees comprised of employers and diverse stakeholders to support its mission and participate in the maintenance, support and refinement of Wisconsin’s workforce and talent development system. Suzanne has been appointed to the Strategic Initiatives Committee, which will seek strategies and best practices to attract, retain and develop Wisconsin’s workforce. Alliance members Alan Petelinsek, CEO of PowerTest, and Laura Catherman, President of Waukesha-Ozaukee-Washington Workforce Development, are also serving on the committee. The group next meets in August.
